The Northern Delight
Burlesque artist and cabaret singer, Chérie Coquette will surprise you with her class and her naughty movements that evoke the glamour, class and weirdness. She is a graduate in choreography at Concordia University in Montreal. She began her career in Burlesque in June 2013 at the Fringe Festival in Montreal, as a stage kitten. The following year for the Fringe Festival of 2014, she co-produced her own cabaret / burlesque show Extravagante Extravaganza. Since then, she has performed in several cabarets in Montreal including the Wiggle Room and Le Cabaret Lion D'or. She was in the 2014 edition of the Montreal Burlesque Festival. She has also coached numbers for Montreal burlesque artists such as Lavender May and Marie Doroftei.
In 2015, she moved to British Columbia where she met Judith Stein, the Canadian legend of Burlesque. Judith has chosen Chérie Coquette to be in her troupe. Coquette was the headliner of both the Speakeasy ElectroSwing in Montreal and the BloomNight Club in Nelson, British Columbia.
She was back in Sherbrooke in 2016, in her hometown to show her passion for burlesque to the people of the Eastern Townships. She has produced, on April 29th 2017, Occult Burlesque with ShazamFest and Motadith Productions. This show was a great success in bringing the Burlesque in the small city she was born. Also, in May 2017, she performed at the Capital Burlesque Expo in Ottawa , beside Lola Frost and Poison Ivory.
Always looking for new adventures, Chérie Coquette moved to Whitehorse in the Yukon, . Her first performance in Whitehorse was at the Yukon Art Center for the show Onde de Choc. The north is now her home. She was part of the Pivot Theater Festival, produce her own production North of 60 Burlesques Extravaganza, perform with the famous Sweet Soul Burlesque (Vancouver, BC) and showed her talent at the Palace Grand in Dawson City with Boardwalk Burlesque.
In 2022, she received funding through the assistance of Touring Artist Fund, Department of Tourism and Culture, Ranj Pillai, Minister with the Yukon Government. With the help of this grant, she was able to perform in Vancouver, BC with April O'Peel productions and at the Queen City Burlesque Expo in Nelson,BC. Also, she was part of the Oslo Burlesque Festival in Norway and has performed with Cabaret Calgary in Alberta.
She is now a leading burlesque artist in the Yukon and teach with Velvet Antler Productions.
